About Us

In the very early 70’s, four Norwegian immigrants arrived in Calgary and noted that it was the perfect spot for ski touring – but those types of skis were oddly difficult to come by at that time. This started the Norseman’s now more than 50 year legacy as an expert in Cross Country skiing, and the outdoors in general.

Since opening our doors in 1971, our mission has remained the same: to provide the highest level of knowledge, equipment, customer service, and community support. Over the years, our passion for the outdoors and the people who explore it has shaped us into more than just an outdoor gear shop — we're a store that emphasizes education as much as (and sometimes more than) the outdoor equipment that lets us do the things that drive and reward us. We believe that all great adventures start with the right preparation – and sometimes that’s as simple as knowing what’s possible. That’s why - as well as a curated selection of exceptional outdoor brands - we also offer a range of educational clinics and community talks designed to help outdoor enthusiasts build confidence, learn essential skills, and properly care for their gear. Our goal is to help everyone explore safely and get the most out of their equipment for years to come.
